Cleveland Twist Drill Q PM Drills— Performance Vs. Conventional High Speed Drills

 

Drilling a 3/8" diameter through hole, 1-1/4" deep in 4340 alloy steel (255-262 Brinell) with Trim-Sol mixed 1 to 20 with water at:

916 RPM (90 SFM), 0.0136 IPR, 12.5 IPM

Drills were pulled after 235 holes due to desired consistency of wear for regrinding.

After 235 holes:

- Average maximum cutting lip wear = .003

- Average cutting lip corner wear = .015
